BASICS
Sky Harbor is located five miles (8 km) southeast of downtown Phoenix. The airport's Web site offers useful information, including:
TAXI
Taxis are available just outside the arrivals area. Fare is metered and will cost from $20-25 to the downtown area. Travel time is about 20 to 30 minutes.
SHUTTLE
A lower cost alternative to taxis are the SuperShuttle vans. They serve the whole Phoenix metro area, including Scottsdale and surrounding areas. When you leave the baggage claim follow the "van services" sign to the ground transportation booth. There will be a SuperShuttle attendant to help you. The vans go to your specific destination.
The fare to downtown ranges from $7 to $15, depending on the distance to your destination. Fares to Scottsdale, Tempe and Mesa are $10 to $35 depending on the distance. These fares are for the first person in your party, it is $5-$15 for each additional person.
RENTAL CAR
Phoenix is a place where you will probably want to rent a car. It is an easy drive to almost any area in the valley, and if you have any spare time, a drive up to Pinnacle Peak or Squaw Peak Parks provide a nice view and a feel for the desert. All major rental car companies are at the airport, but there are many local companies that may have a better deal for a one-day rental. Look in the yellow pages phone book or here.
